Desiccation
Desiccation of the air is a technique used to eliminate moisture from the air, also known as dehydration. This method is used in desiccant dehumidifiers, which operate based on the following principle:
- Air is drawn in by a first fan,
- It then passes through a desiccant wheel, typically made of a porous material to "trap" the water molecules,
- The water is recovered and projected onto a metal plate by a second fan that heats the air,
- Thus, the air is dried and exits through the top of the dehumidifier.
Desiccant dehumidifiers are particularly effective in low temperatures, starting from 0°C, making them ideal for cold environments.
