ULPA Filters
ULPA filters (Ultra Low Penetration Air) are high-performance filters capable of trapping microparticles and ensuring clean air. They are mainly used in air purifiers or air purification systems, especially in medical environments like hospitals, where they create "clean rooms" free of viruses and bacteria.
ULPA filters are considered "ultra-low penetration" because they have an exceptionally high efficiency: they capture at least 99.9975% of airborne particles that are 0.1 μm or larger in diameter. Only 0.0005% of particles manage to pass through these filters, making them one of the most effective filtration systems available.
These filters are easily identifiable due to the thick rubber seal around their perimeter. However, they require extremely powerful Air Treatment Units (ATUs), which are often located outside buildings or on rooftops. For this reason, ULPA filtration is generally reserved for medical and hospital applications.
For residential use, HEPA filters are recommended. These filters are less energy-consuming and quieter, yet still provide excellent filtration quality, making them suitable for everyday environments.
