Pollen
Pollen is a reproductive element produced by the male organs of plants, transported by insects, animals, or the wind to reach the female organs. Although natural, pollen causes allergic reactions affecting the respiratory and ocular mucous membranes and can cause skin reactions such as eczema.
Most pollen allergies appear as allergic rhinitis or rhino-conjunctivitis, commonly known as "hay fever," and may trigger asthma attacks. Plants like grasses, birch, cypress, and ragweed are especially high in allergenic pollen.
The pollen seasons are divided into three periods:
- January to May: tree season
- May to July: grass season
- July to early October: weed season
To reduce allergy risks, sensitive individuals are advised to avoid high-pollen areas and protect their eyes. Indoors, using an air purifier can effectively capture allergenic pollen particles and alleviate allergy symptoms.
