Smog

Smog is a thick brownish haze that limits visibility in the atmosphere. It consists of fine particles from fossil fuels, such as coal-fired power plants and exhaust gases, as well as tropospheric ozone. This fog forms by the condensation of water on these suspended microparticles, which then mix with ozone.

The term photochemical smog is used when solar radiation is involved in its formation. This type of smog, often observed in weather conditions of strong sunlight and low wind, is also known as "summer haze." It poses a real danger to human health, causing respiratory diseases and irritations, and has a negative impact on the environment.

In many countries, pollution spikes associated with smog can be devastating and even deadly. To combat this indoor pollution, it is recommended to use an air purifier.
