Ionizer
An air ionizer is a technology found in certain air purifiers, humidifiers, or dehumidifiers used to purify the air. The "negative ionization" function generates a large number of negative ions in the surrounding air, effectively removing molecules and particulate pollutants.
Negative ions are attracted to positive ions, causing them to attach and increasing the weight of suspended particles. This leads to their falling to the ground and being eliminated from the surrounding air.
In air purifiers, combining one or more ionizers with HEPA filtration enhances purification efficiency: ionization helps weight down pollutant particles, making them easier for the HEPA filter to capture.
It's important to note that while the ionization system helps settle particles, it does not completely eliminate them, unlike filtration systems (HEPA/ULPA, activated carbon) that capture both particles and gases.
